Helping Out

Everyone seems to have a different opinion about sharing their FIRE plans.  Some think it’s no big deal, while others guard their secret even from their closest friends and family.  I have unwittingly mentioned our plans to my family, and to some close friends.  What can I say, sometimes I just can’t shut up.  I don’t know if they actually believe me, or just nod along hoping that I stop talking.  Either way, as a result of my excited and often times slightly inebriated ramblings about low cost index funds and maxing your 401(k), I have become a resource to various friends and family. What the Hell am I Doing?

Mr. RTF here-

The answer to that question is, I don’t know.  And I never really have.  I wasn’t one of those kids who dreamed of growing up to be an astronaut or a veterinarian.  I didn’t have any wild and crazy dreams of being a professional athlete or a musician.  For two years in college my major was undecided.  I basically fell into my major because I tested into junior level classes.  I’ve now reached the ripe old age of 26, and maybe I won’t ever know what I want to be when I grow up.
